NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 20 – A family of a private guard in Murang’a’s Kandara ward is pleading for justice following the mysterious murder of their kin while on guard duties at night.

The victim was reportedly struck on the head with an unidentified object.

Steven Waweru Guchu, 63, worked as a security guard at Riangoro Kahawa Processing Factory.

Guchu’s colleagues said they heard no commotion despite reports of a distress call raised by the victim.

“My dad reported to work as usual at 7:00 in the evening. The neighbours around the factory say that they started hearing wailing at around 12:00 midnight before it faded out after a few minutes,” stated Muthoni, the eldest daughter to the deceased.

“He was beaten by a blunt object before he lost consciousness and died before arriving at the hospital,” she added saying the matter had been reported at Kandara Police Station.

Residents in the immediate neighborhood of Gatumbo urged the National Police Service to hasten investigations on the matter.

The family revealed arrangements were underway for postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.
