MP Salasya under probe for threatening to kill Kakamega Magistrate over ruling on Sh500,000 debt » Capital News

NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 28 – Police in Kakamega are investigating claims that Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya threatened to kill a magistrate after an unfavourable ruling in relation to a Sh500,000 debt owed to a local businessman.

In a complaint lodged at the Kakamega Police Station, Magistrate Gladys Kiama of the Kakamega Small Claims Court claimed that the MP threatened to take her life after she ordered the lawmaker to pay businessman Robert Lutta the debt with accrued interest and cost of the case.

The Magistrate stated that Salasya has since been calling her number and texting threatening messages to her via online messaging platform, WhatsApp.

Police said efforts are underway to arrest the legislator who is still at large.
