Entrepreneurs benefit from financial literacy training at 3rd Abojani Economic Empowerment Conference


NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 29 —  Over 300 entrepreneurs have benefited from financial literacy training at the 3rd Abojani Economic Empowerment Conference event organized by Abojani Investments.

Speakers at the event stressed on the importance of innovative ideas that will attract investors noting that capital is available despite many entrepreneurs lamenting the lack of finance.

Speaking at the event key speaker Executive Director at Equity Group Holdings Mary Wamae said the financial sector is well positioned to support sustainable ideas that will especially address problems of the future.

She added that entrepreneurs must also plan ahead to ensure that their beneficiaries are equipped with capacity and skills for business continuity.

“We continue to see brilliant ideas from young people and we are always ready to back such ideas as an industry. We have also embarked on training that will ensure the entrepreneurs have the right skill set to run in a profitable and sustainable manner. We are especially keen to see that these businesses are resilient and have the right governance structures,” she said.

Speaking at the same event AIB AXYS Chairman Linus Gitahi added that the youth need to start saving and investing at an early age.

He encouraged entrepreneurs to focus on partnering with the right investors rather than retaining huge stakes in their businesses.

Gitahi has also called on entrepreneurs to take advantage of available financing to grow their enterprises adding debt if well invested is wealth.

“The young people need to exercise delayed gratification for the sake of their future by saving and investing long term. For those in business especially, let them not fear debt but utilize the various instruments available from financial the industry to expand their businesses.

The 3rd Abojani Economic Empowerment Conference aims to guide participants on the path towards building robust wealth baskets that cater to various life stages, including retirement, home ownership, and the creation of generational wealth by illuminating the essential tools and strategies necessary for achieving lasting financial protection and prosperity.

Ochieng added financial empowerment content is lagging and therefore the gap should be breached through access to business education.
