Arati reinstates sacked nurses, confirms ECCE teachers » Capital News


KISII, Kenya, Dec 7 – Kisii Governor Simba Arati has reinstated nurses and clinicians who were sacked three years ago during national wide industrial strike.

Speaking at Gusii stadium, Governor Arati assured the healthcare workers getting back their jobs by ordering the public service board to reinstate the 70 healthcare workers who were sucked after failing to go to work after holding a strike.

The healthcare workers were holding a protest over poor working conditions and terms at work, those who didn’t get back to work were sacked instantly rendering them jobless for the past three years.

“I pity the former regime for sacking all these healthcare workers by protesting over the poor working condition they worked in,” said Arati.

On the other hand, the governor confirmed 526 ECDE teachers whose contract came to an end this year after serving for 10 years.

The confirmation comes after the county government had put in place the new public service board.

Already, 125 ECDE classrooms have been built across the county to accommodate learners.

“ECDE is integral part in the physical development of young people despite the low pay for staff,” said Arati

Governor Arati assured teachers, he will work towards ensuring the teachers are properly remunerated and their welfare catered for as part of the efforts to improve service delivery in basic education.

“Now that the public service board is in place, all pending matters touching you will be addressed including scheme of service,” he said.

The teachers would now be confirmed after serving on contracts for over ten years.

New County Public Service Chair Enock Obebo said his first t assignment immediately he landed in office was to look into ECDE teachers.

“We still had to get everything right even as we vowed to FastTrack confirming our teachers ,” said Obebo.
