BMH organizes a week-long cardiac surgery camp

DODOMA: The Dodoma-based Benjamin Mkapa Hospital (BMH) has teamed up with specialist doctors from the Netherlands to conduct a thirteen days special camp to offer heart surgery to elderly people in the country.

According to a statement issued by the hospital’s head of communication and relationship unit, Jeremiah Mbwambo on Tuesday, the camp will begin from the 12 to 29 February 2024 with a sole purpose of offering services to those in need of heart surgery.

“Anyone with a heart problem that needs this treatment should come to the Benjamin Mkapa hospital making sure that he or she arrives at 8 am and ask for the heart clinic,” she stated.

In October last year, BMH Executive Director, Dr Alphonce Chandika said that the hospital would soon introduce cardiovascular services as the hospital was celebrating its eight years of existence.

Elaborating further, he noted that the hospital will be offering equal services like those at the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI) by working with several medical stakeholders, including experts from JKCI.

According to the Executive Director, within only eight years, the hospital has already introduced several specialists and super specialised services that have helped the country to save billions of shillings in reducing referrals outside the country.
