Game 1 T20: Uganda v Sri Lanka Development Squad
Uganda 87 all out
- Dinesh Nakrani 29
- Brian Masaba 21 SL
Development Side 88/5
Sri Lanka Development won by 5 wickets.
Cricket Cranes went down by 5 wickets in their first tour T20 match in Sri Lanka as they continued their World Cup preparations.
The team is preparing for the 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA. Uganda is alongside the West Indies, Afghanistan, PNG and New Zealand at the global showpiece.
The first T20 match for the Cricket Cranes was against the Sri Lanka Development Side. The hosts won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Uganda was immediately put on the back foot after they were reduced to 3/5 losing the top order very cheaply.
Dinesh Nakrani (29) and Brian Masaba (21) were the standouts with the bat as the Cricket Cranes tried to put on a respectable total before they were bundled out for 87 inside 20 overs.
In the run chase, the Sri Lanka Development Side started well and the breakthrough came with 20 runs on board.
Dinesh Nakrani (3/19) had the breakthrough and two other scalps to finish as the standout bowler for the Cricket Cranes. Henry Ssenyondo (1/15) and Alpesh Ramjani (1/15) were the other bowlers to pick wickets.
Juma Miyagi, on his return, bowled three overs and gave away 27 runs but it was a good return for someone who is making a comeback since July last year.
The Cricket Cranes will be back in action tomorrow.
